The river Soča and its tributaries Tolminka, Idrijca, Bača are a paradise for fly fishing in the area of ​​Tolmin. This is the only permitted method of fishing in the Soča Valley. Fly fishermen are fascinated by the famous Soča trout, grayling and rainbow trout. The fishing season lasts from early spring to late autumn.

The Soča Valley has two fishing districts, which are controlled by the Zavod za ribištvo Slovenije (Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia) and Ribiška družina Tolmin (Angling Club of Tolmin). Fishing is only allowed with a valid permit.
